Arbor Hills Neighborhood Association

In 1956, a number of men purchased farm land and woods to offer lots for sale. In the beginning, not many purchased the lots, largely due to the beltline's imposing presence, the lack of city sewer. Not to be daunted, the men hosted a parade of homes and many saw the advantages of the then country-like setting. Homes were purchased and the neighborhood was born. The growth continued over the next decade, with new homes and neighborhood organizations taking root. An active Garden Club adopted the task of beautifying the new neighborhood and speared fundraisers to establish a park. The club is also credited with raising money and support for the Arbor Hills Park and Greeway. The Arbor Hills Association formed in 1967 and has been active in neighborhood development and renovation. The association formed in response to a rise in commercial development in the area. Concerned about what this would do the area's overall atmoshpere, the committee worked to maintain the area's character. Over time the areas residential and business presence has grown. Due to an active neighborhood association and residents, the area has a renovated park and attractive appearance.
