Cherokee Park
The Cherokee Park Neighborhood Association was founded in 1994 and serves about 270 homes. The neighborhood community is very active and hosts numerous activites such as an Easter Egg Hunt, 4th of July parade and picnic, and runs a neighborhood crime watch and park and playground commission. The neighborhood includes the nationally protected wildlife preserve Cherokee Marsh Conservation Park, which is the largest wetland in Dane County. It contains 1210 acres of wetland with 7.1 miles of walking trails in three separate units. It also has a boardwalk and observation decks, cross country trails and Native American burial mounds.
