Lerdahl Park is an area containing approximately 275 households surrounded by Harper Rd. on the west, Chicago and Northwestern railroad tracks on the east, Troy Gardens on the north, and Lake Mendota on the south. In 1996 the Lerdahl Park Neighborhood Association formed in response to the threatened development of the Troy Garden property and the challenges of Mendota Elementary. The neighborhood includes four acres of community gardens, a large children's garden, a five acre organic CSA farm, and an area of restored prairie and woodlands.
