Midvale Heights Neighborhood Association formed in 1954. The land much of the neighborhood stands on today was originally purchased by Benjamin Piper and his sons, Benjamin Jr. and David, in the early 1850's. Part of Odana Rd. once was named Piper Rd., after the home David Piper built on the current location of 4718 Odana Rd. Later, in 1889, Henry Horstmeier and his family purchased another eighty acres of land on the northwest quarter of the neighborhood. After WWII the area became further developed, with the neighborhood association officially forming in 1954.
Today, the Midvale Heights Neighborhood Association divides the community up into 15 areas, each with an area representative. The association holds an annual garage sale, and is currently active in the Midvale Project, aimed at bringing together neighborhood, school, and community members to beautify and better the neighborhood.
